Hi there!

First blog entry... (large intake of breath) here goes!  I thought it important to say that I was trained in hair and makeup for telev ision and film; just so you know my background.   Although interestingly, as my career and imagination has progressed I have dipped my toes into wider aspects of the makeup field.  I hope that this blog can become a forum for creative musings. Recently I began to lose this a little, especially working as a freelancer, being  your own boss/accountant/PR/ etc... can lead you to focus less on your creativity and more about the business!  I found a wonderful quote by American Poet Maya Angelou and thought I would share it

Wow! I have decided that this is now my mantra in life! Ha. So simple yet so wise.  If only Maya could stand with me and say that to my face when the fourth invoice has still not been paid after 6 months of torturous telephone conversations and  car tax to pay and a BASTARD parking ticket. Breathe. I digress. Oh that word digress reminds me of one of the first conversations I had with Tia when we met on a job two years ago.  I said in the most I’m trying to act cool and use big words in front of this new makeup colleague, “I REGRESS” Hilarious, as she didn’t want to correct me but knew that this word had a vastly different meaning.  Anyway, I realised my error which led to us imagining the scenario of me pretending to be 10 again and having a tantrum almost as if it was some sort of mental tic! I knew straight away that we were going to get on like a house on fire.
So....I really have digressed now. I think that is all for the first post.  I’ll leave you with a picture of my hero, who I think (very subconsciously) started me off on the journey to wanting to become a film makeup artist. It was, and still is, my favourite film of all time. Labrynth. And David Bowie looks fantastic. They really don’t make them like they used to....
